He has done it again. In this latest edition Jim covers a vast range of whiskies – many more than anyone else. The Gospel according to St. James is exhaustive in its approach, but is also irreverent and amusing in its comments, and fastidious in its scoring. This is the 6th year in which the Bible has appeared and it is now an eagerly awaited annual event. Whilst the Scottish product still dominates, the coverage of other whiskies has expanded. It first appeared in 2004 when a total of 2,000+ whiskies were tasted and rated. The 2009 edition addresses no less than 3,850 different whiskies - 100 up on the previous year. What is amazing is that the Bible has gone from 256 pages in 2004 to 360 pages in 2009, yet the price has gone up by only one miserable quid! The Bible is very easy to use and is well organised, disciplined and logical in its approach. The flexi cover and compact size makes it an easy fit for hip pocket or sporran alike, as you set out on the whisky trail.
