There is a wonderful literature associated with whisky and a number of essential "text books" which the enthusiast and student should acquire. We shall offer you the best of those in print as well as the occasional opportunity to acquire scarcer out of print volumes when they become available. We shall advise of books which are particularly associated with one of the itineraries or a specific distillery.
At the very least, the serious imbiber or collector needs a couple of thorough tasting guides and we shall offer the best of these to help you with your adventures. Just as no one would set out on a complicated journey through France without a couple of Michelins, nor should you explore the world of whisky without the proper guide books.
But there is so much to whisky in terms of its lore, history, political, industrial and economic impact that a number of excellent writers has emerged to capture the wealth of culture and chronicle the facts and deeds surrounding our favourite spirit. These include the late Michael Jackson, Charles MacLean, Jim Murray and Gavin Smith and we shall include some of their volumes in the Whisky Library.
There are also company, brand and distillery profiles which add more depth to our knowledge and we shall include these in association with the individual whisky journeys. And there are the more technical treatises for those actually involved in the industry or for the amateurs who might want to try their hand at making their own whisky!
The objective is to enable you to build up a serious library of whisky literature to match what you have in your bar.
